David Tinsley Profile
:

David Tinsley served his electrical apprentiship at the World renowned Cammel Laird Shipbuilding Company within their Plant Electrical Department. After completing the four year apprentiship and receiving his indentures David moved to their then parent company VSEL (Vickers Shipbuilding) in Barrow-in-Furness to work on the Nuclear Submarine Programme being undertaken there in the early 1990’s.

During this period he took his Offshore Survival Course at Blackpool & Fylde College, and at the age of 22 left shipbuilding to work as an Electrician in the Petro-Chemical field, spending the next three years working on various Gas & Oil platforms in the North Sea off the coasts of Scotland, Holland & Norway. After a short time working in California at Long Beach & in Santa Monica on various new-build properties and commercial installs, David returned to the UK and took up his first part-time teaching post at Wirral Metropolitan College at the age of 25.

For the past fifteen years David has worked in Education while keeping his footing firmly in the Electrical Industry. David’s first substantial role in Education came at The College of North West London, where he was in charge of the Building Services provision for three years – while overseeing a Design & Install Partnership carrying out all aspects of electrical work in the Capitol.

During this time David attended Greenwich University, achieving his Certificate in Education, Higher Diploma in Education & the required Internal & External Assessors qualifications necessary to assess both Candidates and fellow tutors within FE. Moving back to the North West in 1999 David returned to Sessional Lecturing at Hugh Baird College, Knowsley Community College and Wirral Met’ College, while the beginnings of DJT Consultancy and the Training Courses that are now so well established at the Liverpool Marina were beginning to flourish.

David firmly continues his links within Further Education on the Wirral, playing an active part in the Electrical Section at Wirral Met College on a daily basis, while maintaining strong connections with both the City & Guilds & NAPIT. This joint practice ensures a full understanding and awareness of the ever changing faces of Electrical Legislation & Training. He encourages life-long-learning and CPD on all his courses, and therefore personally sits every new or updated electrical examination as they are released by the City & Guilds.

“I was extremely lucky to have attained such a wide range of experience so early on in my career, and this continues to help even now in the style that I deliver classes & courses, and the advice that I offer on a daily basis, either as a Tutor, a Trainer or as an Engineering Consultant on site...”

David & DJT Ltd employ a number of out-sourced trainers for the specialised courses it runs, and David says of these tutors, I have also been in the unique position to meet some of the most technically gifted and academically knowledgeable Engineers within our field over the years, and now I am delighted to be able to utilise these people to help our delegates pass their examinations. These are exciting times for electrical personnel as advances in technology, home automation systems and environmentally sustainable energy sources become common place. Our main focus is on keeping entirely up to date with these advances as they evolve and passing on high-quality training & advice as a result...”
