The short Video Clips on this page of our site are here to assist Electrical Operatives who are about to undertake a Practical Assessment in either the C&G 2391, 2392 or any other Inspection & Testing related qualification. They are intentionally very brief (mainly kept to between 1 - 2 minutes) so as to demonstrate that each of these tests can be carried out quickly and effectively. These clips are not edited or filmed from ingenious angles, so as to demonstrate that each test is authentic and in ‘real time’. However, those potential delegates watching these clips must be aware that there are huge amounts of additional information that they will be questioned on regarding these tests.

These are not definitive instruction videos, they are fundamental & straightforward overviews, created solely to build your confidence, and should be regarded as a base from which to start...

Introduction

This concise introduction should be viewed prior to the following video clips, as it sets out the intentions of the short directives you are about to watch.

Safe Isolation

Prior to carrying out any ‘Dead’ Tests a Safe Isolation Procedure should be followed. This clip explains briefly how to go about this process.

Continuity of CPC

This dead test can be carried out quickly and effectively, and this video demonstrates how, without referring to the detailed terminologies normally associated with this test.

Insulation Resistance

I/R is the next ‘Dead Test’ to be carried out, with this short video clip highlighting the important aims of the test, & demonstrating how go about it safely.

Polarity

This test is required to ensure all switches, fuses and circuit breakers are in the line conductor only, and sockets are wired correctly, which can be done rapidly once the method is clear.

Earth Loop Impedance

While it is clear there is much to comprehend about the Impedance of a circuit, beginning with understanding the equation: Zs= Ze + (r1 + r2)
The actual Testing of Zs is much more straight forward than it may seem...

RCD Test

Once again there is much to be aware of regarding the testing of RCD’s and RCBO’s, although being aware of the disconnection time figures you need to obtain is the logical starting point for this short video clip.
